The Mysore Dasara Set
Product Description
The Mysore Dasara Set
Every year in Mysore, Karnataka, something magical happens. A celebration that brings together heritage, faith, and royal pride – the Mysore Dasara.
The grand procession begins with the powerful Vajramushti Kalaga – a symbolic wrestling duel, rooted in the Mahabharata, where tradition says blood from one wrestler is offered to the Goddess. It marks the beginning of the Vijayadashami procession.
Next come the majestic horse and camel riders, once warriors of the royal army, now marching in honor of a glorious past.
You’ll see the graceful Somana Kunitha dancers wearing colorful masks – a tribute to the village deities and ancestral spirits. Then comes the fierce energy of the Veeragase dancers, representing the stories of Lord Shiva and bravery of the Lingayat tradition.
As the drums beat louder, the excitement grows – because everyone is waiting for the star of the procession: the Ambari. In the old days, the Maharaja rode this golden seat. Now, it's the Goddess Chamundeshwari herself who rides in royal glory on the back of a majestic elephant.
Note: Weight and size of the golus are bound to vary since it's handmade.
